Ryan Halligan Thirteen Suicide

Ryan Halligan was just thirteen years old when he took his own life due to cyber bullying. Ryan Halligan was your everyday youngster who began to get picked on at school so Ryan with the help of his dad learned how to defend himself and ended up becoming friends with the boy who was initially bullying him. Everything began to change when Ryan told his new “friend” about an embarrassing test performed at a hospital when he was being treated for stomach pains which led to Ryan being taunted about being gay. Unfortunately the bullying ramped up and the most hateful came from cyberspace where classmates and peers would not give Ryan any peace. A girl would later admit to conning Ryan Halligan into thinking that they were dating in order to extract details that would later be used against him. Ryan Halligan learned how to hang himself online and shortly after would take his own life on October 7, 2003 he was just thirteen years old. None of the people who bullied Ryan were ever charged criminally due to the lack of laws at that time but Ryan Dad pushed forward and had laws introduced to protect kids both on and offline.
